STREAMLINE BRANDS announces investment into the number one cycling Team in Africa
This week the Streamline Brands Group, best known for its Del Forno Pizza Pasta Grill, Restaurant brand announced its sponsorship of the top UCI-ranked ProTouch Continental Team for the 2021 season. This agreement also includes the Support SA Talent Project, which was spearheaded by ProTouch to recognise local South African talent and provide a platform upon which to create funding opportunities for top performing athletes. The agreement also includes naming rights to the Support SA Road Cycling Series, Virtual Racing Series and a new Pro Racing League launching in 2021.

I have only recently started riding myself, but I have found myself hooked. Through this new found passion of mine, I have gotten to know some of these athletes and have started to understand the challenges they face within the industry, all while trying to get onto the World Stage. I’m eager to find ways to assist them and others in achieving their dreams,” he added.

The ProTouch Continental Team last year, took on over twenty events in fifteen countries and, is ranked the number one team in Africa. “We finished off our 2019 season with four Stage Wins; four Sprinters Classification Jerseys; nine Top 10 General Classification finishes; sixty-eight Top 10 Stage Finishes; thirty-two Top 20 Stage Finishes; and, a Gold/ Silver Medal at the African Games,” added Tony Harding, Team Principal for ProTouch. “We were lucky enough to participate in four UCI Tours before COVID-19 halted our 2020 season, but it has been a tough season for our riders not knowing when this level of racing will resume. We are extremely grateful for Del Forno’s commitment into cycling, we believe that with more investment like this we can continue to have more South Africans onto the World Stage, and keep South Africa in the number one cycling nation position,” Tony added.
